Where Winds Meet Liangzhou Release Date Set for April 2nd
Everstone Studio has announced that Liangzhou, the second chapter of the Hexi expansion for open-world Wuxia ARPG Where Winds Meet, releases April 2nd.
Where Chapter 1 took players through the desert landscapes of Jade Gate Pass, Liangzhou swaps the sand for snow-capped mountains and fortified frontier towns. The region’s artistic design draws from ancient eastern imagery, blending what the developers describe as romantic aesthetics with the harsh reality of a frontier city under siege. At some point in the storyline, the region enters a mysterious new phase that promises to change how exploration and combat play out in that area.
Two new story threads make up the chapter’s narrative. Liangzhou Melody follows a young musician searching for a hometown he has never known, while Paper Moon traces how a conflict inside a Buddhist hall reshapes the lives of two people caught up in chaotic times. The new Raging Tides sect is also being introduced, a group with military roots whose battlefield discipline apparently clashes entertainingly with their love of wine off the field.
The big gameplay addition is the Heng Blade, a long-awaited weapon based on Tang Dynasty craftsmanship. The combat animations were designed by Stephen Tung Wai, a seven-time Hong Kong Film Award winner for Best Action Choreography with credits including Hard Boiled and Hero. The weapon uses a deflect-and-counter mechanic and forms a new martial arts path alongside the Mo Blade.
On the boss side, new world bosses include the Moongazing Maiden, the Everdeer, and something called the Pocketrupt Circus, which sounds like it needs to be seen to be believed. A new campaign called Death of Governor tasks players with navigating traps to uncover the truth, and a colossal guardian beast called Town Gate Roar awaits at Dasan Pass.
Liangzhou launches April 2nd.
Where Winds Meet is available as a free-to-play title on PC, PS5 and Mobile devices.
