Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph

Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph Dev Insights: New Abilities, Armor 3.0, and Exotic Overhaul Detailed

Bungie has published the third and final Monument of Triumph Dev Insights before the June 9 launch, and it’s packed. Abilities, armor archetypes, and Exotic tuning are all on the table. If you missed the first two, you can view them here and here.

New Abilities

Every non-Prismatic subclass is getting a fourth Aspect with this update. Titan Sunbreakers get Shieldburst, which turns your Barricade into a deployable explosive that charges up as you deal damage and can be remotely detonated. Hunter Gunslingers get Crackshot, letting you mark up to three targets and fire three scorching shots on dodge activation. Land all three and you get cured. Warlock Voidwalkers get Soul Siphon, a powered melee drain that pulls Overshield and class ability energy from enemies in front of you.

Two new grenades are also being added. Stasis gets a Shatter Grenade that sticks to enemies, explodes into bouncing shrapnel, and instantly shatters frozen targets. Strand gets the Slicewire Grenade, a bouncing grenade that unleashes whipping strands capable of hitting enemies up to four times. Hunter Nightstalkers are also getting a second melee option called Phantom Surge, a dash-through attack that phases through enemies, generates Void Overshield, and deals bonus damage to Void-debuffed targets. Smoke Bomb is also being updated to grant invisibility to you and nearby allies by default without needing Vanishing Step.

Ward of Dawn is being significantly expanded, more than doubling in size and allowing you to reposition it twice by picking up and throwing its core. Enemies are pulled in on deployment and debuffed while inside.

Armor 3.0 and Exotics

Six new armor archetypes are being added to give buildcrafters more stat distribution options. All Exotic armor is being updated to Tier 5 stats retroactively and will have access to all tuning mods, meaning you won’t need to grind replacements if your current rolls are solid.

Ability cooldown stat bonuses are being reduced across the board, with the maximum active cooldown bonus dropping from 190% to 125%. Super energy generation from boss damage is also being cut by 60% to rein in the Super spam meta that emerged from The Edge of Fate.

On the Exotic side, the notable changes include Praxic Vestments getting a 500% melee damage increase, Ward of Dawn synergizing directly with Helm of Saint-14 for extended duration, Skull of Dire Ahamkara gaining the ability to cast a Nova Bomb: Lance after your initial Nova Bomb cast, Lucky Pants getting trimmed down for boss damage, and No Backup Plans now triggering off melee final blows in addition to Shotgun kills and working regardless of subclass.

The Destiny 2: Monument of Triumph final content update launches June 9th.
