Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Gets Free Challenge Mode Update, Launches on Switch 2 and Mobile

Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics dropped a surprise update today for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft. The free Challenge Mode patch is out now, and the remastered trilogy has also launched on Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, and Android for the first time.

The Challenge Mode update adds difficulty customization across all three games, letting you tweak health, damage, bonuses, enemies, and more to build your own challenge. The higher your challenge rating, the more you unlock. Along with the new mode come 10 new Lara Croft outfits, each with upgraded abilities like faster movement, deeper diving, and improved combat, all unlocked through achievements. Fifteen new achievements and trophies round out the update.

The timing lines up with Tomb Raider’s 30th anniversary this year, which makes this a nice way to celebrate one of gaming’s most iconic characters.

On the platform side, Switch 2 owners get the game running at 1440p and 60 FPS docked, or 1080p at 120 FPS in handheld mode. Anyone who already owns the original Switch version will be able to upgrade to the Switch 2 version for free when that update arrives. Mobile players on iOS and Android can try the first level of each game for free before buying.

Tomb Raider I II III Remastered is currently on sale for $14.99, down from the standard $29.99, on all platforms except PlayStation. The collection covers all three original games plus their expansion content: Unfinished Business, The Golden Mask, and The Lost Artifact.
