Diablo IV Season of Slaughter Is Now Live

The latest season of Diablo IV is here. Season of Slaughter is now live, and this one puts players in the hooves of one of the game’s most iconic enemies.

The season’s central hook is the ability to transform into The Butcher. A demonologist enlists your help in preparation for Mephisto’s assault on Sanctuary, and through your shared experiments you gain the ability to take on The Butcher’s form, though the power isn’t entirely under your control. While transformed, you’ll have a hotbar full of Butcher-themed skills and can earn seasonal currency by doing what The Butcher does best.

New Helltide events let you embrace the transformation and harvest Fresh Meat from monsters, while Kill Streaks grant escalating XP and Bloodied Items carry a new Kill Streak affix for those who want to push the mechanic further. A new dungeon type called the Slaughterhouse gives you another avenue to rampage through, and new Butcher-themed Unique items are available from the seasonal currency vendor and are equippable by all classes.

As a bonus for players who want to try something new, a Paladin Free Trial is running from March 11 through March 18 on Battle.net, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Blizzard has also added a limited-time DOOM: The Dark Ages crossover, bringing DOOM Slayer-inspired cosmetics to Sanctuary including a free reliquary, Crucible weapon transmogs, and The Forsaken Gates portal for all classes.

The Season of Slaughter battle pass includes the usual free and premium tiers. The Premium Battle Pass Bundle runs 1000 Platinum and includes access to all Reliquaries along with the Blinding Sun armor set, while the Deluxe Bundle adds an instant unlock of the Guiding Stars armor set for every class, the Wings of the Firmament cosmetic, and the Alkaid bear pet.
