Dragonkin: The Banished Ancestral Grid Trailer – Skill Fragments, Wyrmlings & Symbiosis Explained

Nacon and EKO Software have dropped a new trailer for Dragonkin: The Banished, breaking down the game’s Ancestral Grid skill system.

The Ancestral Grid is big hexagon layout that grows as you level up. You collect these hex fragments, and slot them in to build out your abilities or modify them.

Place a skill fragment, it goes straight onto your bar. You’ve also got one of four Wyrmlings tagging along (fire, ice, toxic, electric), and when you line up their stuff right on the grid, they auto-trigger support moves tied to whatever you’re doing.

Check out the trailer below:

The real hook is chaining compatible modifiers to tweak skills, bump them up ranks, and crank the power. Hit rank four on a character skill, and it hits symbiosis with your Wyrmling, which merges with the element, changes how it looks, and gets even stronger.

This system should create a ton of possibilities and allow for great player buildcrafting.

Dragonkin: The Banished releases March 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for $39.99. You can pre-order now at Amazon.

If you grab the Blood Scales Edition on consoles, you get in three days early on March 16. If you’re on PC, you can already be playing the game as it’s been in Early Access for about a year.
