Roguelikes remain pretty popular in gaming, especially when done right. "One more run" always has a way of turning into several more. Rogue Explorer is the latest in the genre, and it too maintains that "one more run" addiction. It also carries with a much more casual feeling. Is Rogue Explorer worth your money and time? Read on to find out in our review of the new title available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Rogue Explorer (PS5 [Reviewed], PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC)…

While the game was generally well received, it had an extremely limited audience because it was a VR game on PC promoted by Oculus. So you had to VR to play it. Now the game has been overhauled and the VR removed, and this new version dubbed Chronos: Before The Ashes is now available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch and Stadia. Of course with backwards compatibility, it's…

It's hard to believe it's been so long, but the last NCAA Football game released all the way back on July 3, 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360. New consoles would arrive a few months later, and now we're a little over a month away from new consoles arriving again. For the past six college seasons, every time I wanted to play some college football (which is vastly superior to professional football) I had to my PS3 to get it to read a disc. But not this year. This year, I'm playing a college dynasty on a…

In 2007, I was doing most of my gaming on the Nintendo Wii, the original Xbox, and a low-end PC (mostly playing Black Hawk Down multiplayer). My brother built a gaming PC and it did run Crysis, although it didn't run it on the highest setting (one below that). I played a little bit of Crysis on that PC when the game came out and it was stunning. It looked amazing and the gameplay was fun. In many ways, it was indeed a jaw-dropping experience. Fast forward to 2020, and Crysis has been remastered…

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning originally released all the way back in February 2012 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. We won't get into the history of the development of the game and the quick demise of developers 38 Studios and Big Huge Games, because none of that matters in the present. Reckoning was to be the introduction to the Kingdoms of Amalur, which would have been a grand MMO. What we got with Reckoning is a single player RPG, although one that in small ways feels like an MMO world…

Marvel's Avengers has been out for a week now, for those of us who ordered the version with 72 hours of early access anyway, and in that week I've gotten a couple of characters of the level cap of 50 and into the power soft cap of 130. I've done everything there is to do in Avengers outside of the AIM Secret Lab raid, so I'm now in a confident spot to write this review. Before we dive into it though, let's establish where I'm coming from here. I don't read comics, and never have. My familiarity…

Darksiders Genesis has arrived on consoles (PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch) after releasing late last year for PC and Google Stadia. Budget priced at $39.99, Genesis brings a lot of value to the table in terms of a fun gameplay loop and replayability. Genesis is a spin-off of the main Darksiders games, and in this case serves as a prequel taking place before the three numbered games. The perspective has shifted to an isometric one akin to Diablo, the developer is Airship Syndicate as opposed…

This is a great looking game. Obviously it is a cartoonish style as opposed to more life like games like Watch_Dogs, The Last of Us and countless others, but it is very well done and very colorful. All the scenery is fantastic, from the buildings to the abandoned cars in the streets. I really like the design and the coloring of the OD's, and it seems like the bigger and uglier an OD is, the better the character was drawn. Again, just a great looking game. The sound effects and dialogue for…

Mafia II has a great story and impressive attention to detail, but a hollow open world, weak melee, and PS3 freezing issues keep it from being more. Three out of five.
