RBI Baseball ’18 Review

Gary Smith

It's time once again for baseball season, and that means PlayStation owners can pick up MLB The Show and everyone else is stuck with RBI Baseball for their MLB gaming fix. Of course RBI Baseball is on PS4 as well, and that's the version this review is based on. I've reviewed every single one of these games. Last year was the shortest game review I ever wrote; it was essentially the exact same game as the 2016 version. Here's what I said about the game last year: "If you’ve ever played an RBI…

R.B.I. Baseball ’17 Review

Gary Smith

I've reviewed each of the R.B.I. games since MLB brought the series back in 2014. At this point, I'm not sure a review is necessary anymore. I feel like I should just copy and paste what I wrote last year, because it's the same game with an updated roster. There's no new modes and no new ways to play. I also can't tell where any of the issues were fixed, and the game certainly doesn't look any better. In fact, the only difference here is that this year's game doesn't have online multiplayer…

R.B.I. Baseball ’16 Review

Gary Smith

It's kinda hard to review R.B.I. Baseball '16, the third entry in the series resurrected by MLB Advanced Media back in 2014. And the reason it's hard is because I've already reviewed it, last year. In fact, I've reviewed both 2014 and 2015. The 2014 version was a solid foundation of old school video game baseball. The 2015 version made some significant upgrades to add to that already solid foundation. This year's game feels exactly like last year's game. And to be honest, that's okay with me…

R.B.I. Baseball ’15 Review

Gary Smith2 Comments

It's been just about a year since the classic R.B.I. Baseball franchise was resurrected by MLB Advanced Media. I gave last year's title two and a half stars, which is decent/average on our scale. My main complaints with the game from a year ago were the lack of stat tracking and the camera when fielding. In my conclusion from that review I stated, "Hopefully the MLB Advanced Media guys give it another go next year, as there’s a solid foundation in place that they’ll hopefully being able to…

RBI Baseball ’14 Review

Gary Smith

There was a time when a console would have many baseball games released in the same year resulting in a vast library of baseball games. Gamers who were baseball fans had no shortage of games to play. These days, Sony's MLB: The Show is the only game in town following the demise of the multiplatform series from 2K Sports. So unless you were a PlayStation (4, 3, or Vita) owner, you've been being deprived of baseball gaming. That's where MLB.com stepped in. MLB's Advanced Media wing caught a lot of…

MLB 12: The Show Review

Gary Smith5 Comments

Sony's MLB: The Show series is widely regarded as the best sports game on the market, something Sony obviously takes to heart since right on the cover you'll see “#1 Rated Sports Game, 4 Years in a Row!” With opening day of a new season of baseball less than a month away, The Show is back for the 2012 season and faces the same question all yearly sports titles are faced: is it worth spending another $60 on. Fortunately for Sony, the best has gotten better and for most fans they'll want to…
