Ladies and gentlemen, Thursday night has arrived, and that means another evening of professional wrestling! Tonight, Total Nonstop Action returns to AMC with two championships on the line, a rather unusual match involving the legendary Hardy brothers, and several rivalries that are becoming increasingly personal.
And this week’s Impact comes to us taped from Dothan, Alabama!
That’s right, folks. The great state of Alabama is hosting the action, and I certainly hope the fine people of Dothan gave these wrestlers a proper Southern welcome. Although, considering some of the individuals on tonight’s program, I suspect a few of them would’ve been better served by a stern talking-to and a trip behind the woodshed.
We’ve got Amazing Red defending the X-Division Championship against Cedric Alexander, M by Elegance putting her Knockouts Television Championship on the line against Jada Stone, and Matt and Jeff Hardy entering something called a Slaughterhouse syX Match.
Now, I don’t know about you, but whenever a wrestling match has the word slaughterhouse in its name, I begin to suspect we’re not going to see much traditional chain wrestling.
Let’s take a look at tonight’s action!
X-Division Championship: Amazing Red (c) vs. Cedric Alexander
Now THIS is the kind of championship match that gets my attention!
Amazing Red, a man whose contributions helped establish the X-Division as one of TNA’s defining attractions, defends his championship against Cedric Alexander, who earned this opportunity by winning a four-way match against Rich Swann, KC Navarro, and Fabian Aichner last week.
And if you’re looking for two wrestlers capable of putting on an excellent contest without needing fifteen people standing around ringside, you’ve come to the right place.
Amazing Red’s combination of speed, creativity, and high-flying offense made him one of the most exciting performers of his generation, and the fact that he’s still competing at this level is a testament to his ability and dedication. Cedric Alexander, meanwhile, brings tremendous athleticism, technical skill, and enough experience to understand that defeating a champion requires more than simply hitting a few spectacular moves.
The interesting thing about this matchup is that neither man needs to abandon his natural wrestling style to make the contest compelling. Both can move, both can strike, and both are capable of countering an opponent’s offense in ways that make even a relatively straightforward exchange entertaining.
And frankly, that’s what the X-Division should be about.
TNA built much of its early reputation on wrestlers who could deliver something different from the traditional heavyweight formula. Amazing Red was part of that identity, and Alexander is precisely the sort of competitor who can help carry it forward.
Stinger’s Pick: Amazing Red retains. Cedric Alexander is more than capable of winning the championship, and I wouldn’t be shocked by a title change, but I’m going with the veteran to survive a difficult challenge. Give these two enough time, keep the nonsense to a minimum, and we might have the match of the evening.
Knockouts Television Championship: M by Elegance (c) vs. Jada Stone
Our second championship contest features M by Elegance defending the Knockouts Television Championship against Jada Stone, and the champion has been making some rather bold declarations about her position within The Elegance Brand.
Last week, M proclaimed herself the group’s new leader.
Well, isn’t that convenient?
Apparently, all you have to do to become the boss is announce that you’re the boss. I wish somebody had explained that to me years ago. I’d have declared myself president of the entire wrestling industry by now.
Unfortunately for M, declaring yourself the leader of a faction doesn’t automatically guarantee success once the bell rings, and Jada Stone has made it clear that she wants the championship.
Stone brings speed and athleticism into the contest, while M has the advantage of an established championship reign and the presence of The Elegance Brand at ringside.
And that’s where things could get complicated.
I have absolutely no objection to a wrestler having friends, associates, managers, or even an entire entourage accompanying them to the ring. But if those individuals begin interfering in a championship match, I’d appreciate it if the referee remembered that disqualifications are still technically allowed in professional wrestling.
It’s a revolutionary concept, I know.
Stinger’s Pick: M by Elegance retains. I’m expecting Stone to give the champion a serious challenge, but the numbers surrounding The Elegance Brand make me reluctant to predict a title change. I’d love to see Stone get a fair opportunity, although whether that actually happens remains to be seen.
The Hardys vs. syX — Slaughterhouse syX Match
Ladies and gentlemen, I’m going to be perfectly straightforward with you. I have absolutely no idea what the official rules of a Slaughterhouse syX Match are.
And apparently, neither does anybody else outside the people organizing the thing!
What we do know is that Matt and Jeff Hardy have accepted an invitation from syX, the dangerous combination of Samuel Shaw and Joseph Sawyer, to face them on their own territory.
Now, I’ve watched the Hardy brothers for a very long time. I’ve seen them climb ladders, dive off structures, crash through tables, and participate in matches that would send most sensible human beings directly into retirement. And yet, here they are in 2026, preparing to enter something called a slaughterhouse.
Some people never learn.
This rivalry has already become deeply personal, particularly after their Falls Count Anywhere encounter at Bound For Glory. Shaw and Sawyer have demonstrated that they’re willing to take things well beyond the boundaries of a normal wrestling match, and the invitation to enter their own environment suggests that the Hardys could be walking directly into a trap.
Of course, Matt and Jeff aren’t exactly strangers to bizarre stipulations or dangerous environments. If anything, the brothers have spent much of their careers demonstrating an almost supernatural ability to survive circumstances that should probably require immediate medical attention.
But there’s a difference between being experienced in unusual matches and allowing your enemies to determine the battlefield.
And that’s what concerns me here.
Stinger’s Pick: syX. I don’t like picking against the Hardys, but when your opponents invite you into a mysterious slaughterhouse of their own design, I’m inclined to believe they have something unpleasant prepared. Then again, if Matt and Jeff emerge victorious, I suppose we’ll have to add slaughterhouse survival to their already extensive list of accomplishments.
Elijah vs. Ryan Nemeth
Our next contest involves Elijah taking on Ryan Nemeth, although the real issue here is Ryan’s brother, Nic.
Nic Nemeth recently cost Elijah an opportunity to capture the TNA World Championship during a ladder match, and the disagreement has only intensified since then. Ryan subsequently confronted Elijah to deliver a message on his brother’s behalf, which brings us to tonight’s encounter.
Now, I understand standing up for your family. That’s perfectly respectable.
But there’s something rather amusing about Ryan inserting himself into a dispute involving a man who has already demonstrated that he’s perfectly willing to fight.
If Nic has a problem with Elijah, perhaps Nic should handle it himself.
I realize that’s an old-fashioned idea, but I’m an old-fashioned scorpion.
Elijah has every reason to be furious after losing a championship opportunity, and Ryan may discover that delivering messages on behalf of an unpopular relative can be a hazardous occupation.
The more interesting question is whether Nic intends to involve himself in tonight’s match. Given the history between these men, I’d be surprised if he simply sat backstage and watched quietly.
Stinger’s Pick: Elijah. Ryan may have his moments, but I’m expecting Elijah to take out some frustration on the younger Nemeth brother. Whether that finally brings Nic into the fight is another matter entirely.
John Skyler vs. AJ Francis
John Skyler faces AJ Francis tonight, with Mila Moore accompanying Skyler and Expressions in Francis’ corner.
Skyler issued the challenge last week as he continues attempting to establish himself following his departure from Order 4. Breaking away from a faction can provide a wrestler with an opportunity to demonstrate what he’s capable of on his own, but that opportunity doesn’t mean much unless he starts collecting victories.
And AJ Francis is not exactly the sort of opponent I’d recommend for somebody looking for an easy evening.
Francis possesses a substantial size advantage over many of his opponents, and he’s more than willing to use that advantage to impose his will inside the ring.
Skyler will need to rely on experience, movement, and intelligent offense rather than attempting to overpower a larger opponent.
The presence of Mila Moore and Expressions adds another potential complication, although I’m hoping both sides allow the wrestlers to settle their differences without turning the match into a ringside committee meeting.
Stinger’s Pick: AJ Francis. Skyler has plenty to prove, but Francis’ size and physicality make him a difficult opponent to overcome. I’m expecting Skyler to put up a fight before Francis eventually gets the better of him.
TNA World Champion Leon Slater Addresses the Impact Zone
One of the most important developments following Bound For Glory has been Leon Slater’s rise to the top of TNA.
The young star captured the TNA World Championship at the company’s biggest event, and tonight we’ll hear from him as he continues his reign.
I must admit, I enjoy seeing a promotion place its confidence in a young wrestler with tremendous potential. Slater has already demonstrated extraordinary athletic ability, but becoming world champion introduces an entirely different set of expectations.
Winning the championship is one thing. Carrying a promotion as its leading champion is another.
Suddenly, everybody wants a piece of you. Every challenger sees an opportunity, every rival wants to prove you don’t belong at the top, and every successful defense becomes another test of whether you’re capable of handling the responsibility.
That’s what makes the early stages of a championship reign so interesting.
Slater has the talent, the momentum, and the opportunity to establish himself as one of TNA’s defining stars. Now comes the challenge of proving that his Bound For Glory victory was the beginning of something special rather than the high point of a brief championship run.
I’ll be interested to hear what the champion has to say, and perhaps more importantly, whether somebody decides to interrupt him.
Because if there’s one thing professional wrestling has taught us, it’s that a world champion can rarely speak for five consecutive minutes without somebody else deciding they deserve the spotlight.
Stinger’s View
Tonight’s TNA Impact offers a nice mixture of championship wrestling, personal rivalries, and the sort of bizarre stipulation match that makes you wonder whether the participants have consulted their insurance providers.
Amazing Red versus Cedric Alexander is my pick for the evening’s best wrestling match, and I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing two talented competitors battle over a championship with so much history behind it.
M by Elegance and Jada Stone have an opportunity to deliver a meaningful Knockouts championship contest, while Elijah and Ryan Nemeth should provide another chapter in a rivalry that’s becoming increasingly personal.
And then we have the Hardys entering the Slaughterhouse.
I suppose after everything Matt and Jeff have survived over the years, a mysterious slaughterhouse is just another Thursday evening.
One other thing worth mentioning: Impact was taped in Dothan, Alabama, and I sincerely hope the hometown crowd gave these wrestlers a memorable evening. We Southerners appreciate a good fight, especially when somebody else is responsible for cleaning up afterward.
And after my recent success influencing AEW’s booking decisions, I suppose I should offer TNA management a little advice as well.
Give Amazing Red and Cedric Alexander plenty of time, keep the referees alert, and for heaven’s sake, make sure somebody knows the rules of that Slaughterhouse match before the bell rings.
You’re welcome, TNA.
TNA Impact airs tonight, Thursday, October 29, at 9 PM ET on AMC, AMC+, and TNA+.
Until next time, ladies and gentlemen, enjoy the wrestling, respect the competitors, and remember that even when the booking drives you absolutely insane and may be shit at times, Wrestling Matters.
