Tonight, the superstars of the WWF’s NXT Generation are at the WWF Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, for LIVE NXT action!
The countdown is on to NXT Halloween Havoc (among other things around here, which gives me an idea of my own), which actually takes place on Halloween this year. That’s October 31st.
Tonight, we’ll find out who will challenge Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc when Tony D’Angelo takes on Myles Borne in a number one contender’s match.
The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament continues tonight with two quarterfinal matchups. Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes take on Chazz “Starboy” Hall and Mini Vikingo, while Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno face Fraxiom.
In singles action, Saquon Shugars faces Tristan Angels.
WWF NXT airs LIVE tonight at 7 p.m. CT on The CW!
Stinger’s View: No women’s matches or segments announced yet, and it’s almost three o’clock? HBK, what the hell, man?
Also, these names… Brad Baylor? Ricky Smokes? Chazz Hall? Romeo Moreno? Saquon Shugars? Tristan Angels? None of these tell me anything, and that’s one of the things wrong with wrestling today. Whatever happened to cool-ass names like The Undertaker, Mr. Perfect, Big Boss Man, Ultimate Warrior, hell, even Man Mountain Rock or Adam Bomb? Those were names that immediately gave you some idea of what kind of character you were dealing with, even before the guy ever stepped through the curtain.
What the hell is a Romeo Moreno? What generic character is that supposed to be? I know wrestling has changed, and not everybody needs to be walking around with a ridiculous gimmick, but there’s something to be said for a name that actually makes somebody stand out. Half these guys sound like they could be working at the local insurance agency, and I’m supposed to get excited about watching them wrestle.
The show airs at seven, and nothing announced does much of anything for me. I suppose Tony D’Angelo against Myles Borne has some importance with the Halloween Havoc championship match on the line, and the Dusty Classic is always a worthwhile tournament, but otherwise, there’s just not a whole lot here that’s grabbing my attention.
I’ll watch regardless, because that’s what I do. Maybe they’ll surprise me, and I’ll end up enjoying the whole damn thing. You never know.
