Starfield Comes to PS5 on April 7th Alongside New Free Update and Story DLC

Bethesda Game Studios has announced that Starfield is coming to PlayStation 5 on April 7th, bringing a whole new audience into the Settled Systems for the first time. The PS5 launch coincides with the biggest free update in the game’s history and a brand new story DLC dropping across all platforms on the same day.

PS5 players get full DualSense integration out of the box. Adaptive triggers change behavior weapon to weapon including your starship loadout, the light bar tracks your health and ship integrity, the touchpad lets you toggle between first and third person or pull up your map and hand scanner instantly, and audio logs and ship intercoms will play through the controller speaker. PS5 Pro owners get additional visual enhancements with a Visual mode running 4K at 30fps and a Performance mode with improved visuals at 60fps.

The Free Lanes update is free for all players on every platform and touches nearly every major system in the game. The headline addition is expanded space travel that lets you fly freely between planets within a star system rather than fast traveling everywhere. New space encounters have been added with increased frequency, a new resource has been introduced for deeper gear and ship customization, and there are new options for upgrading Starborn abilities and carrying favorite gear into New Game+. It sounds like a significant quality of life and content overhaul for a game that already had a lot going on.

The new story DLC is called Terran Armada. A faction called the Terran Armada has risen and is bringing their version of unity to the Settled Systems by way of an army of advanced robots and enough firepower to lock down the galaxy. You’ll fight back through the Incursion system, pick up a new Companion, and uncover powerful new tech along the way. Terran Armada can be purchased on its own or bundled with the Premium Edition.

Also launching on April 7th is the Trackers Alliance creation bundle, a bounty hunting arc available through the Creations menu featuring seven high-value targets to hunt down across the Settled Systems. Each entry is a self-contained story with meaningful choices and pursuits that span the game world.

Starfield hits PS5 on April 7th alongside the Free Lanes update and Terran Armada DLC.
